The National Centre for Combustion Research and Development (NCCRD), in IIT Madras, is one of the largest facilities globally for Combustion Research.
With 32 faculties from 6 departments, it brings together academics covering diverse aspects of Combustion such as Automotive, Aerospace, Thermal Power and Fire Suppression, besides microgravity combustion.
The twin challenges of alternative energy and environmental protection are predicated on effective utilisation of combustion as a means of thermochemical energy conversion.
IIT-Madras along with the Govt of India have been proactive in building a large and sophisticated facility for Combustion Research to help India combat this challenge.
